| In August 20, 1993, Dr. Earl Courtney A. Viernes was appointed as Assistant Medical Director, in anticipation of the retirement of Dr. Julio E. Dolorico. Dr. Dolorico retired last April 30, 1994 at the age of 82. He had served Bethany Hospital for a total 58 years. Because of the length of time he devoted to Bethany Hospital, his name became synonymous with Bethany and vice versa. He passed away in January 24, 1996. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award during the Diamond Jubilee in 1993 and the Posthumous Award for Distinguished Service during the 85th Anniversary. |

On May 1st, 1994, Dr. Earl Courtney A. Viernes was appointed was medical Director. He initiated a number of changes in hospital operations; inviting more consultants to practice in Bethany Hospital, transferring the Emergency Room to its present location which can accomodate eight (8) examination tables, the organization of the Social Services Department, acquisition of additional medical equipment to offer more services such as dialysis machines for the Dialysis Center, treadmill stress machine for the Heart Station, ultrasound machine with 2-D echo, and recently a C-T Scanner.
In February 28, 1998, Mr. Samuel T. Roasa, the Administrator, retired. He had devoted 44 years to Bethany Hospital first as an Accountant, then Business Manager, Asst. Administrator and finally as Administrator in 1977 up to 1998.
Mr. Braulio L. Laurino, Jr. was appointed as Administrator in March 1, 1998. The Administrator, the Medical Director, Mrs. Irma C. Roasa, Asst. Administrator & Chief Nursing Service, & Mrs. Nora R. Go, Treasurer and Business Manager, make up the

Management Committee. The Management Committee overseas the total hospital operations.
In 1999, the Miller Annex was constructed to add seven private rooms in the second floor, six consultation rooms, a female ward, and three private rooms in the ground floor. In 2000, OPD-ICU building was constructed, adding six consultation rooms in the ground floor, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with six beds and the chapel in the second floor. [ Next Page] |
